S&B Strategy advises Hannover Finanz on the acquisition of Katec Kanaltechnik Müller & Wahl GmbH (KATEC)

Our team advised HF Equity, a division of Hannover Finanz, on acquiring a majority stake in Katec Kanaltechnik Müller & Wahl GmbH. The transaction was signed in November 2025.

Together with Rohrsanierung Jensen, this creates a powerful national player in trenchless sewer rehabilitation, with both companies continuing to operate independently.

Hannover Finanz has been the equity partner for medium-sized family businesses in Germany, Austria and Switzerland since 1979 and is itself a second-generation family-run company. The investment portfolio currently comprises around 30 companies with a total of over 13,000 employees and sales revenues of more than €4 billion.

KATEC is one of the leading players in Germany in the field of trenchless sewer rehabilitation. The company operates in accordance with the highest quality standards in the repair and renovation of sewers and manholes. More than 100 employees at the Jünkerath, Simmern and Schwerte sites use the latest process and machine technology to carry out all common trenchless rehabilitation techniques from a single source and with their own systems. The company is pre-qualified and has AMS-Bau certification as well as the corresponding quality marks from Güteschutz Kanalbau e.V.

The market for sewer rehabilitation is growing by around 5.6% annually and has a volume of approximately €1.3 billion. A key driver is high demand: over a third of Germany's 600,000-kilometre sewer network is in need of rehabilitation. Demand for efficient infrastructure service providers is rising accordingly.
